a warm note from nannies to families /nanny

What Are Nannies Thankful For?

With Thanksgiving being only few hours away, I asked few nannies what are they grateful for. Is it paycheck? Bonus? Days off? What matters the most for a nanny at her job?

You might be surprised (but, you shouldn’t be), but the thing we are thankful the most is YOU. Our wonderful, kind, respectful employers who are loving and appreciating us as much we appreciate you.

Today several nannies have shared why are they thankful, and here it is:

“I am thankful to be a part of my nanny family for over 2 years now and for the new baby that is coming. This family has been the best to me, has treated me like I was family shared special occasions with me & even made sure I wouldn’t leave with the new baby coming (I knew before the test of the family)”

Nanny Stephany

“I am thankful that my family and I were able to move to our dream location/house. And I’m thankful for the amazing lifelong friends I made while working with Au pairs and host families.”

Jen, former APiA LCC

“I am grateful for the awesome mom’s I nanny for ! Most of them have high careers and I respect them so much for how hard they work. They are true super mom’s ! Also most of them workout very hard in the gym which I also look up to”

Nanny Sara

” I am grateful I had an amazing nanny family for 8 years and I was able to help raise their 3 kids into superb people! Now, in the past year, two wonderful new families have hired me and I love their little ones like my own! It’s a beautiful thing to feel appreciated and loved, and I have all of that. Very thankful this year!”

Nanny Jaimee

I’m thankful that my family treats me as such. From the parents, to extended family, to their old college friends. I’m thankful that I can feel as though they are my family while in away from my family. And on a daily- I’m thankful for nap times, yoga pants, & wine! 🍷

What are the nannies thankful for?

I’m grateful for the family I’ve been nannying  for the past year. I’m grateful for the fact that they refer to me as ‘another member of the family’. I’m grateful for all the love both parents and children show toward me. I’m grateful to the lovely mum who proof reads all of my essays before I submit them to uni. And lastly I’m grateful because they have allowed me to become part of their family and now I never see ‘work’ as being work. “

Nanny Charlotte

“I have been with my family since the twins were 2 months old in a center. When their little brother came along it worked out for the best for everyone to leave the center and stay home with me. Not only do I make double what I was making at a center, I am so much happier and so are the boys. I am thankful to have a second family with them. They care about my needs and I’m more then just an employee to them. There is a little bit of an age gap, but they have always treated me like family and have always respected my decisions with their kids and look to me for advice. I’m thankful for three loving boys who I get to spend my days with despite the tantrums and teething. The “I love you’s” and cuddles make up for all of it. I’m lucky to be able to take the kids to do fun things that we were never able to do when we were in the daycare center and to be able to make my own curriculum fit to the boys’s interest. Lastly I’m thankful for appreciation. It’s so different from the center I was at where you were unappreciated and underpaid. Random thank you cards, gift cards, or just a simple text makes me feel like I’m doing a good job and let’s me know that they are happy with what I am doing and I don’t have any self-doubt that I’m in the wrong occupation. It’s amazing how much a text saying “we’re so glad to have you around” can change your whole attitude.”

“I am thankful for the screams, the tantrums, the tears, the hugs, the laughs, the cuts, the bruises, the play time, the story time, the love, and everything that makes the kids i babysit, special! ❤”

“I’m thankful for all the littles that helped me discover my path in life. Without those first few beautiful souls giving me the pleasure of caring for them I would have never found my true passion in life which is what I soon after dedicated my life to doing. Now I’m on a path I would have never found without those first few baby loves and laughs ❤”

“I’m grateful that I get to spend my days with someone who doesn’t care about designer clothes, makeup or hairstyles. She loves me for me.”

“I have many things to be grateful!!! My family, my hubby(who understands this crazy life I lead) friends, the funny nanny page where I can feel like someone knows exactly how I feel , vacation and most of all that my sweet aunt is making progress after being backed over by a taxi!!! It’s going to be a long road but it’s so good to see her”

35 reasons why nannies deserve more than minimum wage

I am grateful for this last year that has been the best in my life. I had to leave my old job, but I’ve been blessed with new nanny family that appreciates, respects and loves me like a part of their extended family. I couldn’t ask for more. I am grateful for that little boy who reminds me every day how important my job is and how with ever word and action I am teaching him and helping him to become amazing man one day.

What about you? WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’ll have the best time with your loved ones!
